ESTIMATES & QUESTIONS
Estimates and phone messages are replied to after work hours and always within 24 hours. If you haven't heard from us within a day, please get in touch again, we may not have received your email /message. We generally don’t see DM’s on Instagram so that’s never a great option to contact us there!
Once we sight your design and approve it as "letterpress friendly", and once you have accepted an estimate we’ll go ahead and issue a tax invoice.
Please see The Fine Print page for the low down on deposits and agreements.
WORDING & SPELLING
Please make sure that all contact details, spelling and wording is checked (and double checked!) before final approvals. We will always notify you of any errors we find, but essentially all wording is the client’s responsibility.
Our general turnaround time for printwork is two weeks. Turnaround times commence once the final approval has been accepted and a 50% non-refundable deposit has been paid.
If our print schedule is full or we experience unavoidable delays, turnaround times will be extended. Expected turnaround times will always be stated clearly at the time of quoting and clients will be updated throughout the process.
Please be aware that getting artwork, layouts and customization ready for the press can take some time, and often a little to and fro. But all good things take time, so please allow enough of it for conversations to happen and edits to be considered. Leaving it to the last minute is never a great idea.
At times we can accomodate urgent print requests for an additional fee. We highly recommend planning your project well in advance to avoid the scramble and stress of a rush job - it's never fun and our weekends are precious as it's time with our kids!
To provide printed proofs of your project we need to make plates, ink the press, print and clean-up. So proofs do require an additional payment. Please also be aware that printed proofs will extend your turnaround time by one week at least.
We offer two forms of proofing: printed proofs and email proofs.
Printed proofs are as above. We make plates, print and send. Proofs will be delivered in your colour choice and on the closest house stock available. Once we have your approval, your print run will commence. At this point, plate changes or design changes will attract additional costs. Colour and paper choices will be just fine unless paper has been purchased specifically for your project.
Email proofs are images of your work sent to you at the time of the print run. You MUST be available on your phone or computer to approve the print at this time. If you are not available we will not be able to complete the print run and additional charges will apply.
PAPER & INK
WHAT PAPER STOCKS DO YOU USE?
When it comes to paper we don't discriminate, we pretty much love it all. We do have our favourites though and each paper speaks a different language - it all depends on what you wish to say and how you want to say it.
Our favourite stocks to print include luxury cotton stocks such as GMund and Cranes Lettra, fusion stocks such as Wild that combine cotton and plantation fibers plus functional sturdy stocks such as Matt Board that are affordable, flexible and print beautifully. Others include hardy Kraft boards and the brilliant Colorplan in no less that 50 amazing colours and a range of weights.
But paper is a big subject so feel free to ask for samples and contact us to discuss the options.
WHAT INKS DO YOU USE?
We use both rubber based and oil based inks. We keep our clean up as eco friendly as we possibly can by using vegetable oils and the smallest swipe of citrus based solvents.
Our inks are all mixed by hand and matched perfectly to your chosen colour.
We ship all custom letterpress projects via Express Post or Sendle (depending on cost and time). Please be aware that express post from our corner of the world will be delivered in 1-2 days of lodgement. For local orders, delivery or pick up can be arranged. Personal delivery may be possible, however it will attract a small fee based on time and distance. When shipping via Sendle, we require a postal address rather than a PO Box.
